Becoming a foster parent in Nebraska means opening your home to a child who cannot safely stay with their own family. Before licensure, applicants complete pre-service training that includes first-aid instruction, and holding current first-aid and CPR training is part of preparing to care for a child.

急救要求

In Nebraska, the Department of Health and Human Services requires prospective foster parents to complete the pre-service training program, which includes first-aid training; a current CPR and first-aid certificate delivered by a recognized organization is expected before a child is placed. The goal is the ability to respond to common childhood emergencies — injuries, choking, cardiac arrest — for children of all ages.

This training is recognized by DHHS and its licensed child-placing agencies, and foster parents must complete 12 hours of continuing education each year to renew the license. The certificate is one requirement in addition to the home study, background checks and the assessment of parenting suitability, and it must be kept current.
