Nebraska requires licensed child care programs to keep at least one staff member with current CPR and first aid training on the premises at all times during operating hours, under 391 Nebraska Administrative Code Chapter 3, Section 3-006.10E. Oversight rests with the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health, which licenses child care across the state. The rules set no fixed statewide renewal cycle, so staff simply keep their certification current and on file.

Before any prescription or non-prescription medication is given, Nebraska requires written permission and written instructions from the child's parent, and all medications must be kept in locked storage (391 NAC 3-006.27D and 3-006.27G).
